This is an original stereo version of The Rolling Stones' Their Satanic Majesties Request LP, Decca TXS 103. It was the sixth British and eighth American studio album by the Stones and was released on 8th December 1967 in the United Kingdom and the following day in the United States. It reached #3 in US and #2 in UK album charts
This is a copy of the initial release of the album. The sleeve isthe earliest, darker version, with a deep blue border on the front, and much more vivid colours on the back than later editions. Being a copy of the initial release, the album features a three-dimensional picture of the band on the cover. When viewed in a certain way, the lenticular image shows the band members' faces turning towards each other with the exception of Jagger, whose hands appear crossed in front of him. Later editions replaced the glued-on three-dimensional image with a photograph, due to high production costs. The maze on the inside cover cannot be completed: a wall at about a half radius in from the lower left corner means one can never arrive at the "It's Here" in the centre of the maze.
I have owned this copy of this great album since I bought it shortly after it was released. As you can see from the photographs, it is in very good condition and I am selling only because I am downsizing.
The record has the matrix numbers ZAL-8126-T2-6K and ZAL-8127-T2-4K. It is not warped. It has fingerprints dust and fluff and needs a clean. There is a faint scratch on track 5 of side 2 ("Sing This All Together"), but this is only visible when the record is held up to the light and when I played it I don't recall it affecting the sound of that track. I have not played it for over 40 years so cannot confirm it plays with no jumps, sticks or skips, but when I did play it I never had a problem with it and I believe that it would play well. The labels have no rip; there are some faint spindle marks (again, only visible when the record is held edge-on to a light, but other than that they are fine (see photographs 6 and 7).
The sleeve is the original. It over 40 years old, but there are no tears and, as you can see from photographs 4 and 5, it is fine.
The cover. It is slightly rubbed round the corners, and edges, but this is general handling wear and, again, it is 45 years old. There are no tears, rips or writing. The wording on the spine "STEREO TXS 103" and "DECCA" is legible. However, the first two letters of STEREO have been rubbed away.
