Description

Up for sale/auction is a Rolling Stones "Sticky Fingers" first U.K. pressing, and rare. This was released April 23, 1971. I am not an expert grader, thus I have graded the cover & vinyl at VG+, but there are very few light marks and probably a higher grade, maybe excellent.  I purchased this while in Bristol, England.  Please view the images for your own grade or description.  Note that at first I thought the matrix showed it to be Variant #2, but now I believe it to be Variant #1. The Andy Warhol zipper on the cover works.
First UK edition does not have the inscription “A Promotone N.V. RECORD” on labels. Promotone company was founded only a few months later in September 1971 (Amsterdam, Netherlands), while the album "Sticky Fingers" was released in April 1971.
The zipper on front cover is completely blank with 2 indented lines.
This kind of zip is made of far higher quality of metal of the usual ones, and is easy to spot & date - when compared to similar clothing zips made in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
It is a very early made one.
A3/B3 matrix is the lower known matrix for this release.
Sleeve opened at both top and bottom. After jeans with a real metal zipper on front that unzips to reveal a man in cotton briefs.
The set contains also an insert with a pic of the Band on one side and credits & lyrics on the other side.
Insert says "Printed in England by Richard Davis Ltd."
The runouts are stamped except for "T.M.L. ROLLING STONES RECORDS" which is etched.
