Description
The Stones debt album on UK Decca from 1964 - a really nice early copy....Label errors/changes...Matrix -2A/-3A. The record comes housed in the original cover printed by MacNeill Press London. Includes original Decca inner sleeve.
1) Track one shows as 'Route 66'....not as later copies do... '(Get your kicks on) Route 66' 2) Track 4 shows as 'Mona'...this was later changed to...'I need you baby' - per the sleeve. 3) Track 4 side 2 - credited to 'Bozier'......not Dozier as it should be. 4) Honest I do - is credited to 'Hurran,Calvert'. Later copies all credit 'Reed' 5) On Side 1 - the publisher 'Cromwell Music' is mentioned this is later changed to 'Burlington'.
The above errors/changes would have been corrected/modified shortly after release. So, this is definitely a nice early copy and, most importantly, it plays pretty darn well too.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) Has seen a reasonable amount of use, but still plays back like a dream. Under close inspection I can make out a few light and moderate marks, but nothing troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity and little interference. The only deviation is on side 2 where there's a few crackles in tracks 3 & 5, but that's really all that was noticeable. It really is a barnstorming rendition of the Stones debut album - a real corker!
Cover (Vg+) These covers have often suffered down the years, but this one has survived pretty much intact. There's very little laminate lift on the front that so often afflicts these covers and the rear only suffers light ageing. The spine is still pretty much intact and overall this cover fairs much better than most.
Inner (Vg+) No splits, but has aged a bit.
