Condition
The condition of this LP is rated as: Excellent
Song "Memory Motel" has a tiny bit of surface noise in the background at the start and tiny moment later again, but rest of the song is not affected. The song does not skip and the surface noise is not highly noticeable - more in the background for a fraction of a second. It does not badly effect the song.
All the other songs are not affected by any surface noise.
In between tracks the LP is quiet with no signs of surface noise, no pops, no skips, no jumps.
The LP surface is in very clean condition. I can only see two light surface marks on side A that are not deep.
There is no writing on the LP labels, the label around the hole in the LP are clean and undamaged on both sides.
The condition of the COVER is rated as: Excellent
There is very light scuffing on the inside of the cover at the top of both sides.... it is very light and not very noticeable. Also tiny sign of scuffing on bottom of front but very subtle. See photos.
There is a small wrinkle mark on the front cover - bottom right. Not very noticeable. A few light scratches on the rear but they do not break the surface of the cover and can only be seen in bright light viewing at an angle. They do not really detract form the condition of the cover.
There is a small indication on the rear of the cover of "ring wear" but it is not very noticeable. Also a light scratch on the back but doesn't break the surface and is only noticeable in bright light at the right angle. This effect can be seen in the photos.
Other than those minor issues the cover looks great.
There are no tears in edges, no worn or scuffed edges, no significantly worn or scuffed corners and the spine is also good.
There is NO evidence of any price tag residue or removal.
The inside sleeve is in excellent or better condition with no issues and literally just a tiny mark or two.
Any issues mentioned above are relatively minor and all are clearly depicted in the ebay photos above.
I grade conservatively and am confident this is a fair and accurate grading.
Goldmine LP Rating system
Mint - Near Mint - Excellent - Very Good Plus - Very good - Good plus - Good - Poor
Mint: Absolutely perfect in every way - certainly never played,possibly even still sealed.
Near Mint: A nearly perfect record; no obvious sign of wear; sleeve has no more than the most minor defects. An LP jacket has no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect. No cut-out holes; same for any inserts.
Excellent: Almost near mint with a few minor flaws. LP may have very small amount of light scuffing or very light scratches that can be seen but produce only the slightest rare touch of "in-the-background" surface noise that passes fast, is not overly obtrusive & is not ongoing. The LP jacket has no damage such as tears or rips, pen marks, price tag removal damage or noticeable residue, but it may show light signs of wear from standard use such as light creasing, a subtle mark or two, but nothing that markedly detracts from the original condition of the jacket. If an inner sleeve is issued it will be included & in similar condition. Most collectors will find an LP rated Excellent highly acceptable.
Very Good Plus: Shows some signs it was played & handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. LP surfaces may show slight signs of wear & may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect playback. Only occasional, brief&relatively unobtrusive surface noise allowed here & there. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but is should be barely noticeable. The center hole is not damaged. Picture sleeves & LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam-split. Jacket my have slight signs of wear & may have a cut corner indicating it was sold at a discount.
Very Good: Many of the defects found in a VG+ record are more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise is evident upon playing,especially in soft passages and during the song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. But , it won't have all these problems at the same time.
