This is about as rare and vintage as things get for The Rolling Stones. The record we are offering is a White Label Promo Original United Kingdom Mono pressing of the first album by The Rolling Stones, released in 1964. The record labels read NOT FOR SALE and the cover has a sticker on the front which reads PROMOTION COPY NOT FOR SALE. Note that the front cover also indicates there is a color photo of the Stones inside, however it is not present.

In addition to the rarity of this particular pressing, the material on this LP is great as well, featuring PHIL SPECTOR and GENE PITNEY on the song “Little By Little” and IAN STEWART on four of the songs. The liner notes on the back cover were written by Andrew Loog Oldham.

Interestingly, the track list beginning with “Not Fade Away” (and the LP sub-title of “England’s Newest Hit Makers”) indicate that this is the United States version, however the record label clearly has the words MADE IN ENGLAND at the top. The cover has both the U.K. and U.S. address on the back.

COVER: The front cover is in nice shape and presents itself well, although it does have moderate surface wear. The overall condition is VG due to a 4 inch top right seam split and an 8 inch lower spine split. The back cover shows wear and has a name written in the top left corner and some markings near the song titles. The rest of the jacket has some edge wear.

VINYL: This record has had lots of play and shows scuffing, scratching and wear over most of its surface. We listened to a bit of side one on our medium weight tracking turntable and noticed that not far into the first song there was a light skip. If you have a heavier tracking turntable it may play through. We cleaned the record on a VPI Machine but the music does have some ticking and noise. This record grades about G to FA.
