- Sleeve - about VG, with a little inner ring wear to front and rear, a very small bend to top right corner and light general ageing/wear. Very mark mark/stain to top flipback (top right corner) and small 'M'-shaped scratch-mark to bottom right area. To the rear you can see where a small amount of glue has seeped from beneath the flipbacks during manufacture (not a fault, just thought I'd mention it - please see pics above).
- Vinyl - when viewed under a bright halogen bulb, both sides have a number of very light 'hairline' surface marks and also the odd light, non-feelable surface mark. Track 1 of Side 2 has a small, non-feelable scratch at the start of the track and also a light non-feelable scuff across the track, neither of which affect play. Overall the record is visually around the G+ to VG- area. The record plays through fine - it DOES NOT jump or stick - but with the expected background noise and some pops, clicks etc. ... for a detailed description of how it plays, please see 'Other Details' below.
- OTHER DETAILS - a very rare original 1960s UK 7" EP on the Clementswood label, in glossy flipback picture cover.
I played the record all the way through, loudly and on headphones and below is a description of how the record played :-
Side 1 Track 1 is a vaguely folksy pop tune in a waltz time. Has background noise on the run-in grrooves and some background noise along with some gentle pops and clicks for about the first 30 seconds of the song - it then dies down and becomes far less obvious for the rest of the track.
Side 1 Track 2 is a more upbeat, psych-tinged 60s beat tune, fairly typical of the era. There is some background sound on this track too, but is not very noticeable until towards the end of the song, when you can pick it up a bit more along with some gentle pops etc.
Side 2 Track 1 is more like track 1, a folky-pop tune with almost doo-woop style chord progressions (if not vocals!) in the verses. Minimal instrumentation on this quieter song. A little background crackle and a few gentle pops on the run-in grooves and on the track itself (mainly towards the end), though less than the 2 preceeding songs on Side 1.
Side 2 Track 2 is another 60s pop tune with vaguely psych tinges here and there, but with just guitars, bass and voice (no drums). Has just a little background crackle on this one (less on than all the other tracks) and vocals have mild distortion here and there but nothing terrible at all. Background crackle a bit near the end of the song and on the run-off grooves after song ends.
Try as I might, I could find nothing about The Reality on the internet; however, another EP of theirs called "Reality Roundabout" from about the same period (I presume released slightly after this one as the catalogue number was CC 123) sold on eBay in 2010 for silly money and below is what it said on the Popsike entry about the "Reality Roundabout" EP that sold (the following text does NOT directly relate to the release on offer) :-
Style: religious, psych, beat
Info: Totally obscure and very rare private pressing 7" EP.The rear sleeve says "The four songs on this recording are the Reality's own compositions and were written to try to express the Gospel in the style of the tunes used today".
They were a four-piece religious group from St. Albans who played 60's beat and psych, singing about the dangers of LSD amongst other things; complete with effects, echoed vocals and even some fuzz guitar! The songs were written by either Bennett or Smithson/Bennett.
Quite a bizarre record and pressed in extremely small quantities...
If you know anything more about the group or this release, I'd be interested to hear from you!

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????GRADING
NEW: Just that. Note that an item will only be factory sealed/shrinkwrapped if it says so in the description.NEAR MINT: The record itself is in 'as new' condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are also in 'as new' condition. (please note that I will NEVER use the MINT grade, as I think you are asking for trouble! The highest grade I will use will be NM (Near Mint) as even a new record/CD can have a tiny fault if you look hard enough! If an item is NEW I will say so.)
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played a number of times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the maybe some occasional light scratches. If there is any surface noise it will be occasional, light and unobtrusive. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has obviously been played a lot and while it still plays through OK, it will have a lot of surface marks and/or light scratches (maybe also the occasional 'feelable' scratch) and most likely there there will be regular and noticeable surface noise. The cover and contents may suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine and/or seam splits, discoloration, etc.
