THE PUDDING 45 came out ahead of The WHO version, allowing time for this original version to succeed or fail. When it did indeed flop, Pete Townshend felt this song was too good to go to waste like that, and The WHO recorded their own version for a 45 on Track Records. This single remained obscure and unheard, but it is the original first release for the song!
