THE POP GROUP: FOR HOW MUCH LONGER DO WE TOLERATE MASS MURDER? (WITH NEWSPAPER!)
'For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder?' by The Pop Group is a very rare album, no longer commercially available on CD or vinyl, but offered here on vinyl in excellent condition, complete with it's original fold-out newspaper sheets .
It is the original 1980 UK vinyl pressing on the Rough Trade record label, catalogue number ROUGH 9. There are nine tracks, including a collaboration with The Last Poets.
I bought this LP myself back in 1980. The package includes a very large fold-out broadsheet size newspaper fearturing images, lyrics and copies of news articles concerning policing and war around the world. Each of the four double sided fold-out sheets measures 90cm x 62cm and when folded these form a sixteen page broadsheet size newspaper.
Inscriptions in the run-out grooves read 'ROUGH-9-A-1' on side one with 'ROUGH-9-B-1' on side two.
The vinyl is in terrific condition, looking virtually unplayed. There are just a few isolated very minor surface markings, but none that affect audible playback. Rating: 'Excellent'.
The sleeve is in pretty good shape for it's age too. It does have a 7cm horizontal tear near the rear top opening edge (bottom right of my photo) - caused by the bulky newspaper that was previously inserted, but removed as soon as I noticed the damage being caused - and slight tanning along the minimally scuffed spine, but it has retained a high gloss sheen and shows negligible front or rear surface marking. Overall Rating: 'Very Good+'.
The newspaper is complete and unmarked with no missing pieces. The fold lines are obviously evident and the outer page has a little fading/scuffing/light creasing around those lines. All of the pages are undamaged with the exception of a 10.5cm tear along a fold line on the centre page. My rating: 'Very Good+'
