Accounts vary: according to some (and this is the prevailing version), this is really Booker T & the MGs album, recorded by the band in an effort to escape their label's strangling and domineering artistic chokehold.; according to the others, Booker T & the MGs only make a very prominent cameo appearance on this album in an effort to help launch the career of Charles "Packy" Axton, son of Estelle Axton, the co-owner of the Stax/Volt Records . Whatever the case, the visible lack of musicians' credits or any other information on back cover lends credence to both versions. In either case, what you get here is the very finest Booker T & the MGs album recorded in years, very much escaping syrupy and overproduced treatment their material received on the later (1968-1969) official Stax albums.. This is a raw, crazy, funky sh^%!t. Track listing: Hole in the wall - There's no tomorrow - Pure Soul - Goodness, Goodness - Headin' Home - Sweet Grapes, Part 1 - Hollywood Baby - Go Head on - Hoppin' John - I'm converted - Sweet Grapes, Part 2 - Cherio O.   Finding a still sealed original MONO copy?!?! (b)          The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

COVER IS STILL SEALED; HOWEVER, WE ARE UNABLE TO GRADE IT MINT OR NEAR MINT DUE TO MINOR FLAWS LISTED BELOW; WE GRADE THIS COVER AS EXCELLENT OR VG++ (A  PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP IS MISSING)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has a partially split bottom seam (between 2 and 4 inches  / 5 to 10 centimeters)

-        -Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has all four corners slightly worn / dinged (nothing significant)

-         Cover has some fraying/wear along the lower seam
