Formed on Malcolm X's birthday in 1968, listen to this album and you'll just go "wow", amazing political and economic commentary, considered the birth of hip hop music. REAL words from truths I'll never know as a white man. This album, and my favorite, 1973's "Chastisement" will blow you away. Explore this, incredible is all I can say. A MUST HAVE! I wish I could say this copy is perfect, but the vinyl and the cover are only Vg. The gatefold cover has a cover with plenty of shelf wear, an edge that is splitting a little soon to be a lot without taping, a spine that is only legible, and some roughing on the edges and corners. But don't get me wrong, this is still a solid cover, its just lived a full life and needs some TLC. The vinyl is better, with minimal light play or sleeve marks, but it has marks, little pale dots, that I believe are from the sleeve, I'm not sure, and Side One's "Wake Up" shows a needle mark, but no skipping! I've listened to this copy, twice, and it sounds great, just typical noise from life's battlefield. Note: unless its Sealed, used vinyl will almost always have some noise somewhere in its approximately 45 minutes of music. It is a wonderful part of the experience. Someone else loved this, and you are giving it a loving new home, and it says: THANK YOU! in the grooves. Reissues are usually remastered and often remixed, and do not sound the same as the originals, for better, often for worse. A lot of paper sleeves in those days left minor residue from not being "acid free", which does in those cases cause a bit of the quiet background noise.
