SUPERB Pressing of this immortal Classic from The Kinks
Ignored by and large when first released in 1968, this LP is now considered THE KINKS' crowning moment. ...myself, I utterly love it, but must confess that my true #1 favorite is the album that came out just previous to this one: "Something Else By The Kinks". Both are pure Davies genius, with 'Something Else' just eking out ahead for me due to its deep atmosphere - and perhaps because as a Life-long KINKS disciple, I heard each album when they first came out - and found seventh Heaven in 'Something Else'.
While absolutely nothing tops Waterloo Sunset (From 'Something Else'), both LPs are pure treasure - and the best tracks of VILLAGE GREEN (BIG SKY, PICTURE BOOK, WICKED ANNABELLA, VILLAGE GREEN and DO YOU REMEMBER WALTER ...and more) are absolutely as divine as anything on the truly astonishing SOMETHING ELSE. If you are here looking to step into the delicious realm of 'Daviesland', and fall under the spell of the Golden Era of The Kinks, then this LP is an absolute must. But you will be sure to want to also get 'Something Else' - and would do well indeed to pick up the album that came out before that one: 'Face to Face'. The full measure of The Kinks' top "Golden Era" period would not be complete, of course, without 'Arthur', the album that followed 'Village Green'.

From an utterly vast and deep record collection, from my life-long best friend (Now merged with my own collection) who was a DJ at the Radio Station I co-founded in the 1970's - and who worked for me at my California record store in the '70s and '80s. . Sadly he has now left this mortal coil, bequeathing me his deep Vinyl Mine.
We had very similar tastes - so numerous prime duplicates are being listed.
Many PROMOS, IMPORTS and 1st PRESSINGS are included.
