Description
The Kinks - Part 1, Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround … offered once again due to the failure of the winner to complete the transaction when first auctioned a couple of months ago. A bit of a rarity, it’s a UK 12" vinyl 1st pressing LP record. A stereo recording, it was issued in the UK by Pye in 1970 and has the catalogue number NSPL 18359.

The Discogs website indicates that a 1st pressing should have the above coding, which indeed this one does. However, there is also a suggestion that on the first pressing and towards the end of Apeman, Ray Davies should sing ... "the air pollution is fucking up my eyes." It was changed to "fogging up my eyes" for the second pressing. I fancy that he’s using the swear word here but in reality it’s not overly clear, given the similarity between the two words. This sleeve has the "fogging" lyric printed but I believe all were issued with the cleaned up version. I have been unable to find any corroborating evidence to this effect amongst copies sold as 1st pressings on Popsike. Also features the hit single Lola, with the original use of "coca-cola" and not the altered "cherry cola" as per the single/Top of the Pops period performance.
Vinyl Condition - Very Good. The record is quite bright but close inspection will reveal a few surface marks but no worrying scratches. Having listened to both sides, I can confirm that there is no jumping or sticking but occasional light clicks will be heard. Background crackle/noise is moderate and heard at times, most noticeably during quieter moments and track breaks. Quite heavy vinyl weighing in at 152gms.
Sleeve Condition - Very Good - Original gatefold sleeve with light edge/corner wear. White cover is not as bright as it once was, slightly grubby in places while marks from a couple of labels will also be found. Inner sleeve is of a comparable condition and as issued, or so I believe – mainly plain and white poly-lined.
