Description
The classic Hendrix stereo double album (the one with naked ladies on the outside cover although, for reasons of discretion, I have only photographed the inside) on the Track label from 1968 on 12" vinyl.
The cover shows number 613 008/9.
The numbers on the discs themselves are:
Side A: label 613008 (613008 A), matrix number on the run out groove 61300 then 2 digits deleted and an 8 etched in, then A//1 then a gap followed by 1 then a further gap followed by 9. Side D: label 613008 (613008 B), matrix number on the run out groove 61300 then 2 digits deleted and an 8 etched in, then B//1 then a gap followed by a 1 then a further gap followed by a 2? (figure not clear). Side B: label 613009 (613009 A), matrix number on the run out groove 61300 then 1 digit deleted and an 9A etched in, then B//1 then a gap followed by a 1 then a further gap followed by an etched reverse 1? (figure not clear). Side C: label 613009 (613009 B), matrix number on the run out groove etched 613009 B then a load of characters deleted followed by //1 then a gap followed by a 1, then a further gap followed by a 6.
The album is such a classic, I won't list the tracks but ask if you do want the details.
The gatefold cover shows a very small amount of creasing; this is a comparatively minor blemish and the cover is otherwise sound. The inner sleeves shows signs of discolouration but are both intact and completely serviceable.
The photo above could possibly suggest that the discs are marked with a whitish something or other; this is not the case; it is merely my reflection when taking the picture!
I have played the record through in the last few days and detected no scratches or jumps. However, I think there may be some surface noise at the beginning of side B but, on the other hand, it is not that obvious and I may be being unduly critical of an album I have owned since it was first released and which has been looked after lovingly. Allowing for their age, I think both discs, the gatefold cover and the inner sleeves are all in pretty good nick.
