THE JAM-PRETTY GREEN rare 1980 U.K. 7" ACETATE / MOD

All you JAM, and MOD fans, this is a ONCE IN A LIFE TIME opportunity to buy, what must be one of THE JAM rarest artifacts, a one sided U.K. 7" acetate of "PRETTY GREEN" from 1980, never released commercially as a single, and a DIFFERENT MIX (different version) then the one which ended on the 'SOUND AFFECTS" album. The song was only released on the 1980 "SOUNDS AFFECTS" album, but this is a different mix which was cut at THE TOWN HOUSE studios where the band recorded the album.

The story was that POLYDOR RECORDS wanted this as the first single from the album, to follow the success of the "GOING UNDERGROUND" single, but the band wanted "START !" as the first single, and won in the end, "PRETTY GREEN" was never released as a single, but here is a 7" acetate of the said song, and also a different mix, much tougher, with PAUL WELLER's vocals more up in the mix, and without the sound affects that where used on the album version, as you can see from the original white sleeve that came originally with the acetate, in the right hand corner it says "WRONG MIX".

In the end only a few of these where pressed, and were given to Radio DJ's at the time (where this copy comes from), but this ACETATE was never used, as the mix was wrong, which makes it very rare, and I have never seen another one like it for sale, or in a collecyion EVER !!!. As I said the ACETATE was cut at THE TOWN HOUSE studios where the band recorded the "SOUND AFFECTS" album, and come with THE TOWN HOUSE labels.

The ACETATE is in EX+ condition, and is ONE SIDED, and was only played once by me, to hear the difference in the song, there are no scratches, and it plays like a new record. This also comes with the ORIGINAL white sleeve, which says "WRONG MIX" in the right hand corner, as you can see from the photo, the whole thing is ORIGINAL, and came from a radio DJ who was friends with the band in the day !!!
