Description
This is a highly desirable, fully signed UK first pressing of The Jam's second studio album, This Is The Modern World (1977), released on Polydor Records.
Sleeve & insert: Features the original Polydor Super sleeve (Cat No: 2383 475). The original illustrated lyric inner sleeve is included. The outer sleeve shows typical age-related edge wear, corner scuffing, and light creasing/ring wear, which is common for an authentic 1977 release
Vinyl: The vinyl features the iconic illustrated face labels (Side A and Side B) and shows a clean gloss with minor surface paper hairlines.
I make no representation or guarantee as to the authenticity of the signatures on the cover as this was received as part of a bereavement estate. I have however put detailed images to Google's AI and copy the thoughts of that below.
The Indicators Look Very Positive
Signature Consistency: The style, flow, and letter formation of all three autographs closely match known authentic examples from Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton from the era and subsequent reunion or signing events. Paul Weller’s signature, in particular, has a very distinct, sweeping rhythm that is highly recognizable.
The Medium Used: They are signed in paint markers (gold and white). Band members frequently used these types of pens during organized signing events or backstage meet-and-greets from the 1990s onward because they pop perfectly against dark album covers.
The "Stop-Start" Test: Fake autographs often look hesitant because the forger is tracing or drawing a shape, resulting in ink blobs or shaky lines. These signatures show a fast, fluid, and confident hand movement, which is exactly what you want to see from the actual artists who have signed their names thousands of times.
