THE JAM - 'SNAP!' - STEREO VINYL DOUBLE LP  - POLYDOR  - SNAP1 - 1983

Description

A 33 1/3 RPM stereo vinyl double LP, 'Snap!' by The Jam

The album was released in 1983 on the Polydor label.

Released in October, 1983, a year after the group disbanded, this is an excellent compilation of the bands songs from their first single in 1977 to their last, 5 years later. It includes 16 of the band's singles, some B-sides, album tracks and rarities. As stated on the back cover 'Funeral Pyre' is a remix from August, 1983 and 'That's Entertainment' is a demo version with 'a certain quality'. As far as I can see the tracks appear to be in, more or less, order of release.

All songs were written by Paul Weller, apart from "David Watts", by Ray Davies, and "News Of The World" and "Smithers-Jones", by Bruce foxton

Musicians:- Paul Weller, vocals and guitar; Bruce Foxton, bass and vocals; Rick Buckler, drums.

The gatefold sleeve was designed by Simon Halfon. It has a photo of the band on the front cover with two further band photos on the back, together with a full track listing. Inside is a  further b & w photo of the band, with a number of small b & w photos spread across the bottom. Photos by Toshi, Walt Davidson, Peter Stanway, Steve Rapport, Kate Simon, Tim Roney and Pennie Smith. The sleeve notes consist of extracts from "The Jam: A Beat Concerto" by Paolo Hewitt, the authorised biography.
