This album 'THE BIRTHDAY PARTY OF THE IDLE RACE', it has to be said, is as good as pop-psych could get, and is a real period classic that stands alongside the Status Quo, Alan Bown, Herd and Move's excellent recordings. This also announced the genius talent of Jeff Lynne as a writer and arranger who still makes his mark on the music stage. The late sixties saw several wonderful freakbeat singles and cohesive psychedelic LPs showing his endless talents, predating his joining The Move, leading ELO, producing some legends of music, and of course the Travelling Wilburys project. This LP is very fulfilling (as were the two following LPs, incidentally), and the careful harmonies distinctive and tunefully imaginative. On superior UK vinyl, LIBERTY RECORDS LBL 83132E is the FIRST PRESSING issue with matrix '1'.The vinyl is in VG++ to EX condition, with slight sleeve 'imprint' barely visible under a bright light and close inspection. Clean bright lables show little sign of use or wear. The cover has nice stiff laminated gatefold card, clean, with some creasing to the front from handling. A landmark album and a very worthwhile play! Winning bidder please add 2.5pounds or $5 for postage in USA, international/insurance extra.
