1971 UK Harvest Green/Yellow 1st Pressing 'The Grease Band'  by The Grease Band! One of the RAREST UK Harvest pressings! No EMI logo & A3//B3 1st Press solid vinyl with 1st Press Garrod & Lofthouse textured gatefold sleeve! Complete with original Harvest inner sleeve!!! A very hard record to find, especially in as excellent condition as this !!!

For auction to the highest bidder is one of the rarer and more obscure early UK Harvest pressings from 1971, the eponymous 1st record by The Grease Band !  Connections to Fairport Convention, Wings, Marianne Faithfull and Joe Cocker amongst others, this band certainly played a major part in the 1970's UK music scene if never really achieving huge fame in their own right. This is a particularly hard record to find and is certainly an essential part of any Harvest 1st press collection!!!  This album only sold in tiny amounts upon release!  It only very rarely turns up anymore, especially in superb condition such as this!!!

The Grease Band evolved out of Joe Cocker's Big Blues in Sheffield in 1966. They soon became Joe Cocker's backing band. After they split from Cocker in 1970, Spenner, McCullough and Rowland joined the session band for 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and played on the resulting album. Spenner and McCullough also worked briefly with Spooky Tooth but then, with the addition of Neil Hubbard (ex-Juicy Lucy), they reformed as The Grease Band . They also toured the US a couple of times. After they split up at the end of 1971, Hubbard and Spenner played together in The Chris Stainton Band and were later in Kokomo; Rowland went on to Fairport Convention and McCullough and Weaver played together again in a later Joe Cocker Band line-up. The first album by the Grease Band is a lost classic.

Record Condition ; Stunning !!! Visually appears as in 'brand new' condition !!! I bought this album new, and have only played it through once to aurally evaluate it for this sale ! Only a few of the very faintest surface hairlines  !!! Certainly no scratches, scuffs or grazes evident when evaluated visually against bright light ! Nice and glossy and clean !!!

Label Condition ; Excellent !!! Clean and clear and in superb condition, (see photographs ) .

Cover Condition ; Some signs of very light wear only !!  No seam tears, seams are fully intact and adhered. Spine is strong - nice and clean and clear with very light spots of wear.

Sleeve Condition ; Excellent!!. Original 'Harvest' inner in excellent condition - see photographs !!!

Aural Evaluation Played superbly well. Really great sound with superb clarity. Virtually nil surface noise discernible at all, and most certainly no skips, pops or jumps !!!?
