Description

THE GODS - " GENESIS ", Columbia Records (SX 6286) Mono, 1968.

Exceedingly rare 1968, first UK Mono, WHITE LABEL TEST PRESSING of the debut LP by psych/early prog band The Gods, featuring Ken Hensley of later Uriah Heep fame on organ.

With matrix numbers; XAX 3676-1G / XAX 3677-1G (marking this out as a test pressing for the very first run off the press).

English issue/pressing.

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been kept and will be included with this item).

In the name of getting the auction going, I will start this item at just 99p.

CONDITION:

VINYL =  EXCELLENT-  (No big/deep scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, no surface noise, just the very lightest of spindle trails, etc. Under my bright grading lamp, the is vinyl's surface carries few very faint surface marks and paper scuffs, but none of them correlate to any kind of noise or other audible interuptions during playback. There is some very faint surface noise just audibile during the silent run-in before the beginning of the tracks, but when the music starts, it plays strong and clean from then on - free from interuption from distortion, clicks, pops, surface noise, etc. Clearly only ever had relativly few spins in it's 44 years.

Although it is not quite mint, it's imperfections are slight and purely visual - would make a good honest copy for someone to play and enjoy.
The overall "Excellent-" grading I am giving this record is dictated by the slight visual imperfections, if this LP was to be grading on audio playback alone it would have easily made a straight "Excellent" grading.

Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)

SLEEVE = N/A (As a white label test pressing this LP would not have originally had a picture sleeve. It came to me in just a plain white paper inner sleeve... might once have had generic plain white card sleeve, although this is just my speculation and it would have had no direct link to the record it contained and therefore would not correlate to the record's value)

NOTE: I must point out that we are actually a long standing physical record shop, with many decades worth of selling, trading and grading records under our collective belts. Unlike so many of the jokers now selling records on ebay, we know how to grade records. Before bidding, please read my description carefully, decide how much this record is worth to you and place you max bid accordingly. Please also feel free to check out my feedback from the many other successful transactions I have made in the past.

ANY QUESTIONS? PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO GET IN TOUCH!

HAPPY BIDDING!!!!!
