Description
This is a very rare POWER POP / MOD single by the UK band THE GENTS / THE NEWS from 1978, AN ORIGINAL, AND A MUST !!!. This is a great POWER POP single, that would fit on one of the POWERPEARLS type compilation, but is mainly unknown, but a select few who know this, and love it, full on guitars (no Keyboards, are the order of the day on both sides). The story is the band was called THE NEWS, and after printing the single on their own, realised there was another band called THE NEWS, and had to change the name, the singles where already printed, so they stuck a sticker on the old name, with the new name THE GENTS, this is a real DIY job at it's best. The sound is a MOD / POWER POP, like THE JAM if they never become successful, and endec playing pubs for a few years, still a rare MOD artefact!!! The single came out on the band's own label NEWS MUSIC, catalogue number WIB 001, it includes a printed phone number for the band on the label, and one side says "A BIT STEREO, PLAY VERY LOUD", and the other side says "STEREO-ISH, PLAY HORIZONTALLY. rare find and an ORIGINAL pressing !!!

The single never came in a picture sleeve, and The condition of the VINYL is in M- condition (UNPLAYED). There is a LOW reserve on this rare POWER POP / MOD single.
