THE FRATERNITY OF MAN s/t Don’t Bogart Me orig M-

1968/USA/ABC 647…. here’s a clean original pressing of their scarce first lp. The cover has a lightly dinged top left corner and there is light wear, there is a 1” surface scratch near the opening edge, otherwise clean and sharp with little wear, splits, delete or other issues. Excellent condition! The vinyl is in M- condition, very clean and has maybe been played a time or two. The labels are clean with no spindle marks. A very nice copy for your collection! Fraternity Of Man is the band that forms the link between Frank Zappa & The Mothers, Lowell George & The Factory, Little Feat, and Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band. In his short period of existence between these ancestors, relatives and descendants, the band managed to record two albums, "Fraternity Of Man" in 1968, and "Get It On" in 1969, before fragmenting. Elliot Ingber had joined the fifth line-up of the Mothers in time to participate in the recording of their first album "Freak Out!" in August 1966, the landmark double album produced by Tom Wilson. According to Zappa, he had to fire Ingber at the end of 1966, and in the course of 1967 the guitarist linked up with Warren Klein, Martin Kibbee and Richard Hayward, who had been three quarters of The Factory. Along with fourth member Lowell George, The Factory had been recording (with Zappa producing) in the latter half of 1966 and early 1967 (see the Edsel Records CD by Lowell George & The Factory "Lightning Rod Man" - edcd 377). With the inclusion of Lawrence "Stash" Wagner (rather than George) on lead vocals, Fraternity Of Man set about their first album with Tom Wilson in the producer's chair. "Fraternity Of Man" was released on Abc Records in 1968 and featured a cover of "Oh No I Don't Believe Tt" by Zappa (which he had yet to release himself), and "Don't Bogart Me" which was subsequently featured in the film "Easy Rider" and its huge-selling soundtrack album, issued in 1969.

MINT: as stated with no defects

M- OR NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean

EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much

VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition, I also play grade the records on high end equipment and will give an honest play grade as well as visual grade, considering the number of records I buy on line my grading is very conservative and fair.
