DARLINGS of The Beatles (at least for a while), talented designers/musicians The Fool produced this wonderful self-titled album of hippie-folk on the Mercury label in 1969. Utterly of its time and overlooked on its release, The Fool is now cool and very much sought after by those in the know. The amazing laminated gatefold sleeve is in strong VG condition, with just a little corner wear at the top and bottom of the spine (see photos). The fantastic psychedelic colouring of the front cover remains strong and dramatic, and there's no unwanted writing or tears. The black and silver Mercury labels look as though the record has hardly been played but when viewed under strong halogen lighting both sides of the vinyl show numerous small marks, scuffs and some cloudy discolouration. So I'd only feel happy grading it as Good. Yet despite that playback of this delightful album is acceptable, with some occasional background noise.
