"The Five Day Week Straw People were a one-off, studio-only British psychedelic band that did one rare album in late 1967 (actually released in 1968) for the budget Saga label. Its ten songs were loosely centered around the concept of a typical weekend in the life of typical working British people. For a fee of 25 pounds per musician, The Five Day Week Straw People comprised of singer/guitarist John Du Cann (of the obscure psychedelic pop group The Attack, AND FUTURE ANDROMEDA , ATOMIC ROOSTER AND HARDSTUFF MEMBER ), bassist Mick Hawksworth, and drummer Jack Collins were assembled.
The album was recorded in about four hours in a London schoolroom (some stories mention a nursery !!!! ) , a remarkable achievement given that Collins had not heard any of the songs prior to the session.
While the album (simply titled Five Day Week Straw People) has attracted some fanatical praise among collectors, it's average-period British psychedelia. It leans a little more toward heavy rock than toward mod, although there are some strong pop elements in the vocal harmonies and the British storytelling lyricism."THANKS TO HIPPY DJKIT BLOG
ESSENTIAL PSYCH 60'S LP REALLY HARD TO FIND IN SUCH A GOOD VG++ CONDITION . SAGA RECORDS ARE NOTORIOUS AMONG COLLECTORS FOR THEIR POOR PRESSING QUALITY AND IS IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO FIND THIS RECORD IN A CLOSE TO UNPLAYED CONDITION TO GET THE BEST POSSIBLE SOUND QUALITY .
THE LATE JOHN CANN IS REALLY AT HIS BEST ON THIS SUPERB LP , AND I COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE THAN RECORDING THE ENTIRE LP !! EACH PLAYER IS A SIDE .
VINYLS RECORD IS IN VG++ CONDITION . IF IT WASN'T FOR A HAIRLINE MARK ON SIDE 2 , I WOULD HAVE GRADED THIS ONE NEAR MINT !!! REALLY SHINNY AND PRETTY VINYL , AS YOU CAN HEAR ON THE 2 SAMPLES , IT PLAYS REALLY NICE . THE BEST EXAMPLE I'VE SEEN OF THIS SCARCE LP .
FEW SPINDLE MARKS ON SIDE 1 LABEL , JUST ONE ON SIDE 2 . NO ORIGINAL SAGA INNER SLEEVE .
REAL NICE LAMINATED FRONT SLEEVE . IT IS HARD TO IMAGINE A MORE PSYCHEDELIC SLEEVE . COLORFUL AND SUPERB . NO RING WEAR ON THE FRONT SLEEVE , ONE VERY LIGHT LAMINATION CREASE . VERY NICE SPINE ( SEE PICTURES ) . NICE CORNERS . IF YOU LOOK PROPERLY AT THE PICTURES , YOU WILL SEE A LIGHT DISCOLORATIONAROUND THE "W" AND THE "S" OF "WEEK STRAW". IT IS SMALL BUT HAD TO BE MENTIONNED .
THE BACK SLEEVE IS NON LAMINATED AND HAS A VERY VERY LIGHT RINGWEAR . STILL VERY NICE .
PROBABLY NOT THE FINAL UPGRADE COPY FOR THIS LANDMARK UK 60'S ROCK SCENE LP , BUT VERY CLOSE TO IT .

Very nice copy VG+= Record has noticeable marks, Light surface scratches and may play with some very light noise, but doesn't overpower the music, Still very enjoyable.
