1965. A very obscure Merseybeat gem. This song was the A-side of their exclusive, Germany-only, Star-Club single, made on their Hamburg trip.
The group was formed in Liverpool in 1964 and had a long residence at the Star-Club and became popular there. They were sometimes billed as 'Gibson And The Eyes'. The Eyes' members had all played in popular well-known groups before: -Paddy Chambers, Lead Guitar (Formerly of Farons Flamingoes and later The Big Three and The Escorts) -John Frankland, Rhythm Guitar (Formerly of Kingsize Taylor & The Dominoes) -Lewis Collins, Bass Guitar (later of The Mojos and later Professionals TV fame as Bodie), -Gibson Kemp, Drums (Formerly of Night People, The Memphis Three, Rory Storm And Co. and Kingsize Taylor and Co.)
Lewis Collins left and returned to Liverpool and joined The Mojos and was replaced by Klaus Voormann who played on their recordings. This line-up recorded the single. A nice Paddy Chambers original, 'She' along with the 'Star-Club' standard 'Peanut Butter' on the flip. John Frankland left the group later in 1965 and the rest of the group carried on as Paddy, Klaus & Gibson, but that's another story
