Be sure to check out the other rare 60s surf/instrumental rock lps I have for sale...
Impossibly rare instrumental rock lp from New Zealand....featuring NZ psych guitar legend Doug Jerebine....aka Jesse Harper. Not a true surf album but it probably is the closest thing NZ had to a surf lp in the 60s....sounds very Shadows-esque but does have a very interesting version of Wipeout. Super hard lp to find...only a few hundred copies of this were pressed.
The story of Doug Jerebine is fascinating. Touted as NZ's Hank Marvin in the early days, he moved to the UK in the late 60s to further his music career, under the alias of Jesse Harper. He was rumoured to have played with several well known artists and recorded a classic guitar psych rock demo album....he was on the brink of signing a huge record deal with a major label before literally walking out in the deal. He then disappeared for several decades while chasing spiritual enlightenment...in recent years he has returned to NZ and is playing locally again. The album he recorded was bootlegged and distributed for years...but only officially released a few years ago.
The cover is in G+ to VG-....some shelf/ring/edge/corner wear. Spine and bottom edge starting to split in the middle. Small name written on back.
Vinyl is G+....it retains much of its original sheen but has a lot of light surface scuffs/marks. Intermittent background noise...although the music still wins out.
One label has small name written in pen, otherwise they're VG with light wear.
Not a mint copy but you will be unlikely to see this anywhere in the near future!!!!
Can pickup from Rye, Vic, or will happily post Australia wide at buyers expense...$9.00 for standard post in a new record mailer...more for additional services. I've got a few other rare surf/instrumental rock lps listed...happy to combine postage. Thanks for looking, good luck!
