This record was recorded by the American rockband, The Eagles. The Eagles were formed in Los Angeles in 1971. Withfive number-one singles and six number-one albums, the Eagles were one of themost successful musical acts of the 1970s in North America and are one of theworld’s best-selling bands, having sold more than 200 millionrecords worldwide, including 100 million sold inthe US alone. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998and were ranked number 75 on Rolling Stone’s 2004 list of the 100Greatest Artists of All Time. Founding members Glenn Frey (guitars,vocals), Don Henley (drums, vocals), Bernie Leadon (guitars, vocals), and RandyMeisner (bass guitar, vocals) were recruited by Linda Ronstandt as bandmembers, some touring with her, and all playing on her third solo album before venturing out on their own.

Hotel California is the band’s fifth studio album and wasproduced by Bill Szymczyk at the Criteria and Record Plantstudios between March and October 1976, the album was released on December 8,1976, by Asylum Records. The album cover features a photograph of theBeverly Hills Hotel, taken by David Alexander. The album was an immediatecritical and commercial success, topping the US charts, It is one ofthe Best-selling albums of all time. It has been certified 26 xplatinum in the US, and has sold over 32 million units worldwide, making it theband's second best-selling album. Ranked by various publications as one of thegreatest albums of all time.
