DOORS
First single, first pressing
You can dig through a lot of Doors singles, and you'll almost never see this original pressing of their first hit single: "Light My Fire." Many people assume that the red & white label is the first pressing, but that's because Elektra changed the label style right at the time that this single was first hitting the streets in the summer of 1967.
In fact, the typical red & white label was the THIRD label design that Elektra used – but it was still found on some late '67 records. The first design was this seldom seen label with the yellow field and the girl at the top. The second design is quite similar to the red/black one, but the field at the bottom would be a pinkish color.
While their previous single "Break On Thru" can occasionally be found on the pink label (as can all of the first 4 single up thru "People Are Strange.") This is the ONLY SINGLE by the Doors that I've ever seen on this earlier label type. It truly is a very unusual pressing of a key record in their career, and their first #1 hit single.
