The Doors, Waiting for the Sun: I have personally listened to both of these LP’s (all four sides). The vinyls are essentially brand new. I purchased the 180 Gram vinyl new and only played it a couple of times. It sounds amazing. The RTI test pressing is a unique item. I don’t know much about these test pressings; but what I do know is that RTI is based out of my home town and they are one of the main companies that are in the business of manufacturing new 180 Gram vinyl. I picked this up from a local store. I have listened to it, and to my ears it sounds the same as the 180 Gram issue. So that is all I know about this issue.

There is little to no surface noise and certainly no scratches or skips during playback on either LP. Based on the Vinyl Grading Classification criteria listed below, I rate these LPs condition as Near Mint (NM).  The LP cover is the 180 Gram re-issue gatefold . There are no signs of any seam splitting, no markings/stickers/glue or any other defects. Inner gatefold color looks as it should.  The jacket wear has no wear or any markings it is new.  Based on the Cover Grading Classification criteria listed below, I rate this LP cover condition as Near Mint (NM).

Grading Classification:

     I do my best to be fair and honest with my record grading assessment.  I will provide as much detail as possible to give potential buyers everything they need to know about the product(s) you are bidding on. Therefore; I grade my LP vinyl and jackets/inner sleeves separately to provide the most accurate description of all the contents. I have developed a detailed grading system for both the LP record and the jacket. If the inner sleeve has significance it will be noted.  I inspect and grade all vinyl by either listening to or visually inspecting under bright lighting. Questionable marks are played to ensure no skipping. Major anomalies will be noted.

Vinyl Grading Classification:

Still Sealed (SS) – Sealed in original shrink wrap. Anomalies (Saw cuts, cut-out holes, creases, etc.) will be noted.

Near Mint (NM) – A superb LP record that is nearly perfect. Shiny, no visible defects allowed, appears to be brand new, except without the shrink wrap. A good description of a NM record is “it looks like it just came from a retail store and it was opened for the first time.” In other words, it’s nearly perfect.  

Near Mint Minus ( NM-) – An LP record that is very close to (NM). No signs of wear. Very minor defects are allowed.

Very Good Plus (VG+) – An LP record that has been played, but well cared for.  It may show light wear, such as light scratches or scuffs which have little or no effect on the listening experience.
 
Very Good (VG) – An LP record that exhibits obvious signs of use. Limited scuffs and scratches causing surface noise that will be evident upon playing.  There will be light scratches which will affect the sound quality. Defects should not overpower the music and it should be a fairly pleasant listening experience.

Good (G) – An LP record considered acceptable. The record will play through without skipping, but with significant surface noise and scratches.  Well used vinyl.

Fair (F) – An LP record marginally acceptable. LP exhibits visible scratches, some skips/jumps and bad surface noise.

Poor (P) – An unacceptable LP record from the listening perspective.  Major defects include: scratches, warped, and major surface defects.

Cover Grading Classification:

Near Mint (NM) - LP cover has no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. The same is true for any inserts, posters, lyric sleeves and the like.

Very Good Plus (VG+) - LP cover may have slight signs of wear and may also be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount.  Inner sleeve and will have some moderate wear, and may have lightly turned up corners.

Very Good (VG) – LP cover may have light to moderate ring wear, some tape, stickers, glue, writing, a small seam split, but not all of these defects. Too many of these types of defects will degrade the cover to a Good (G) classification.

Good (G) – LP cover shows signs of significant wear that includes seam splits (especially at the bottom or on the spine) and worn corners. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.

Fair (F) – LP cover that barely holds and protects the record. LP cover may include (but not all) the following defects: marred by wear, writing, water damage, seam splits on all three sides, inner sleeve seams splits, crinkled and written upon. If it is a common LP cover/sleeve, you'll need to find another copy in better shape to replace it.

Shipping and Handling:

I do not gouge customers on shipping and handling fees. Domestic shipments will be shipped via USPS Economy Media Mail so I can pass savings along to customers. I also pay a portion of the shipping costs (usually around half) just to keep overall costs lower to the buyer. USPS Media Mail shipments can take up to 10 business days to arrive depending on location. All shipments include a USPS tracking number and delivery conformation. Handling time is 1 to 2 business days.

Packaging:

LPs will be boxed carefully in a corrugated box made specifically for LPs to protect the cover.  LPs will include a clear plastic outer LP sleeve. LPs will be removed from cover for shipping to prevent seam splitting.
