Complete with Mega Rare 1st Press Shorewood 'Die-Cut Sleeve w/ Printed Acetate Window and Mega Rare 1st Press Yellow 'Crucifix' Die-Cut Inner Sleeve!!! Impossible to Find as a Complete UK 1st Press In This Condition!!!!

You are bidding on a very rare record  - the ORIGINAL UK 1971 Elektra Records 1st Pressing of the classic last Doors album w/ Jim Morrison; the awesome L.A. Woman!!! It was a magnificent return to form for The Doors, released after much criticism following their previous two albums (especially 'The Soft Parade'), with many critics growing weary of Morrison's increasingly eccentric behaviour, an likening The Doors live shows to a travelling freak-show (sparked in the most part by Jim's 'lewd & lascivious' stage antics [i.e. getting his tackle out on stage!]). Anyways, The Doors answered their critics with an almost total change in musical direction, releasing an album so soaked in bluesy rhythms and driving hooks that pretty much everybody was taken y surprise. However, after the dust had settled this record as widely regarded as a classic.  Its no wonder when you look at the track listing of this record; 'Love Her Madly', 'Been Down So Long' and of course, the mighty 'L.A. Woman' itself. A stunning album!!! What makes this particular pressing so rare today however, is that it is the earliest UK 1st pressing. Very few were ever pressed in the UK and this is one of only a relatively small batch made at the time!!! It has a number of features that identify it as the earliest UK 1st pressing. Firstly, it has the earliest UK pressed Butterfly Label (Elektra has stopped using solid colour labels by this time). It also has the earliest A1//B1 matrix!!! What makes this record even rarer however, is that it has the earliest possible Die-Cut (rounded edge) Shorewood sleeve with original clear acetate window with The Doors printed on!!! These were soon phased out, first with windowless issues, and then later, with square non die-cut issues. What's more. this comes complete with it's MEGA RARE original yellow die-cut inner sleeve which depicts Jim Morrison on the cross. Obviously, this controversy this inner caused led to it being deleted and replaced in all later issues!! To find the true FULLY COMPLETE 1st press with the Die-Cut sleeve, the Acetate Window AND original 'Cross' Inner is virtually impossible today - Don't Miss this one!!!

The Classic 1st press 'Butterfly' Elektra Records Centre Labels are in Stunning condition!!! They have NO Tears, NO Scribbles. NO lifting or Bubbling and NO unwanted writing of any kind to whatsoever - just a solitary light spindle line on each side and that's it!!!

What can I say about the thick & chunky 1st press vinyl that I have not already said? It is stone cold MINT- with NO Scratches, No scuffing, NO blemishes of any kind save for possibly 2 of the lightest almost invisible wispy hairlines - and that's it!!!! It is as near to an absolutely perfect UK 1st pressing of this elusive record that you will ever see!!! This disc looks like it came off the master press this morning!!! It has all the deep shine a newly pressed record that as only ever been played once or at the most twice before!!!  Impossible for a UK 1st press of this album!!! The record still retains ALL of its original gloss and shine and has NO dulling and NO nasty greying of the grooves!!! I am very pleased to state that this is a record that also plays as good as it looks!!! It it has NO jumps, NO skips, NO between track crackle and NO nasty loud pops!!! The thick quality pressed chunky 1970's vinyl looks and feels great (it is very heavy!). I have no hesitation whatsoever with grading this vinyl as a strong Mint-!!! Its as simple as that!!! It is that most elusive of things, a true Mint- UK 1st pressing of L.A. Woman!!! This record would be suitable for the highest grade Mint- collection - you will not find a better example!!) 

The very rare and delicate 1st press Shorewood Die-Cut & Windowed sleeve is also in exceptional condition, which is super rare as most suffered severe damage to the window and massive seam splits to the original inner and always turn up looking tatty and discoloured - this one has NONE of those faults!!! What is really amazing about this sleeve it its complete lack of edge/seam and wear to the window!!! This is very rare for this sleeve, especially since it was never laminated!!! The window cut-out was always the first to show wear as the lip would always get caught. leading at best to heavy feathering, at worst to rips & tears. This one however is almost perfect - nice and straight with NO feathering and NO rips/ nicks etc!!! It is the best you will see!!! The sleeve has retained all its lovely satin finish and maintained its stiffness (not gone floppy and lifeless like most around today) and has NO Tears, No Seam splitting and virtually NO feathering of the opening edge!! The only faults I can find is a tiny patch of residue in the top right corner from a price sticker and that's it!!! There are NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind on this sleeve or inner!!!  It is nice and stiff with an Nr Mint strong spine with Nr Mint legible spine text!!! The sleeve also lies totally FLAT with very little of the ring wear commonly associated with this sleeve.   All in all very nice example of this rare cover which easily grades as a Excellent if not better!!! Believe me, like all our other records this is in no way over-graded!!!

As mentioned above, the LP comes complete with its MEGA RARE correct original yellow die-cut 'cross' inner sleeve - this is also in STUNNING condition!!! These are almost always missing from UK 1st press copies of L.A. Woman and then the do turn up they almost always have massive seam splitting!!!! This one however is superb with NO unwanted writing scribbles, blemishes or nasty creases etc!!! There is just the beginning of a tiny seam stress (under 2cm) at the bottom and that's it!!! The record will come shipped to you in a replacement inner sleeve to prevent any damage too this rare and fragile inner during shipping!!! Don't underestimate the rarity of this LP today - finding a true UK 1st press of this LP by The Doors, in fully complete condition is almost impossible today!!! Good Luck!!!

We will only ship to non-UK countries via Airmail - we do not use surface mail, it is way too slow and thus increases the risk of records being damaged during transit.

A little note about insurance - Please read carefully... If the value of your record(s) is over £30, your invoice will include an insured option. Being the responsible adults you are, it is entirely up to you to take this up  - we strongly advise you to do this but will not hassle you about it. We strictly adhere to it and will only offer refunds (minus the postage AND our eBay costs) if we are satisfied that we have fallen below UK record collector grading standards.
