Description

WOW! What you are bidding on is a out of print HIP POCKET 45 from THE DOORS: LIGHT MY FIRE on the Ford Philco label from the USA. This is the rarest Hip Pocket record!
Hip Pocket Records were flexi-discs manufactured from 1967 to 1969 by Philco, a division of Ford Motors.
They were one of the first forms of portable music, preceding cassette tapes and compact discs.

Hip Pocket Records came in very colorful packaging that was about 6 1/4 inches tall by 5 inches wide.
It listed the two tracks, and featured a photo of the artist or band.

Philco/Ford teamed with record companies, Atlantic, Mercury and Roulette, to produce over 40 releases.
They also released a small series of children's records, which featured nursery rhymes and short stories, most were taken from 1950's era Cricket recordings. These were released in a combination of single sides and double sided versions, with 3" and 4" sizes.
Quite rare and a bit of music history! A Light My Fire 2:52 B Break On Through (To The Other Side) 2:24 HIP POCKET RECORDS HP 9 1967
