“L.A. Woman” Original 33-1/3 RPM 12” 1971 Psych Rock LP w/ Die-Cut Window Embossed Radiused Corner Cover and Crucifix Inner Sleeve! No Reserve!

DESCRIPTION

The Doors - “L.A. Woman” Elektra Records EKS-70511 (Stereo) from 1971. Hard to find Original Classic Psych Rock album from The Doors featuring Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robby Krieger. In the Original Varnish Finish Cover with the Die-Cut Acetate Window, Embossed "Doors" and Rounded / Radiused Corners. Also includes the Original Yellow Inner Sleeve with Rounded Corners and Crucifix Picture on the back. NO Cutouts, Promo markings or Barcode. To be honest I am not sure which pressing this is. The Cover and Inner Sleeve are First Edition for sure as both feature the “15 Columbus Circle” Address. The Labels are Butterfly Labels but they have the Warner Bros. “W” Logo and a "962 North La Cienega Blvd. Los Angeles” Address. The Labels also have the “SP” designation after the Catalog Number. As far as I can read them, the Runout / Matrix Numbers are:

Matrix / Runout (A-side etched): EKS 75011 A-10 SP \- ESR TD 5-11-76 Matrix / Runout (B-side etched ): EKS 75011B-10 SP \- ESRTD 5-11-76 Matrix / Runout (A and B sides stamped): SRC (logo)
That would make the Vinyl a 1976 Specialty repressing. My feeling is this means one of two things: It is either a “transition” pressing with an early cover and a 1976 repress record or an early cover that someone just stuck a slightly newer LP in for whatever reason. You now know everything I do, ask questions if you need more info.

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in good solid shape. There is some basic shelf wear and edge creasing. Still very solid with no splits, stains, tears, cutouts, etc. and would rate VG. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition looking pretty lightly played. There are a few slight scuffs and faint hairlines. Plays pretty much perfectly Near Mint. I’m calling it VG+ to account for the slight visual flaw but plays WAY better and may be improved with a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. The Labels are Near Mint. The Inner Sleeve has some slight marks and a tiny bit of wrinkling. There is some sun fading (I think) on the plain yellow side from light coming through the die-cut window which has left a faint image of the cover photo and the window. I would still rate it as at least VG+.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
