(** PEOPLE, please know what you are buying! I always believed this signed album to be genuinely autographed by Jim Morrison, but because I didn't witness the signing, I always sell autographed items with a disclaimer. Also,I have never authenticated the dozens of signed items I've sold over the years, and I wouldn't even know how to do that! So that being said, I'll sell this for whatever it ends up going for in auction! And obviously, I have to sell it "AS-IS"; and no refunds on these type items. I hope it is a genuine item. I believed it was for the last 40 plus years...**)
Ok my friends, I will try and make a long story short... I've treasured this item since mid to late 1970's. That's when I received it as a gift. I am a DOORS fanatic. This is a pretty thrashed looking (never played it..) first self titled album from 1967 by THE DOORS. The cover and album are both in bad shape.Vinyl has been WELL played and looks heavily scratched. It is signed on the label by JIM MORRISON. I always assumed it to be real, but again, since I wasn't there when it was signed, I can only sell any signed items I have, AS-IS. No guarantees and no returns on signed items. I do NOT know how to authenticate items, so I know that might keep the auction prices lower, but it's all good. I hate to sell this baby, but it's time to let lots of my stuff go now, since I'm older. But it hurts to sell this item. Here's the story on this one:
Been a DOORS fanatic since 1967. Love them! One of my best friends, who moved away and I haven't been in contact with him since the late 1970's, knew of course I worshipped The Doors, as did he. When he moved with his family, he gave me HIS cherished 2 Doors items. This signed (by Morrison) album and a signed 8 by 10 photo of Ray Manzarek, who was my main musical idol in my early life. At the time I got them, The Doors were colder than cold. Mid '70's like I say. Before the famous Danny Sugerman book, before Apocalypse Now made them famous again. Hardly any Doors music was even played on the radio in that era after Morrison died. 
The story I was told 40 years ago was, my friend's dad owned a Tv/appliance type store nearby in Beverly Hills. Ray Manzarek's wife came in, bought a tv. My friend went with his dad to deliver it to Ray's house the next week. He brought this album to be signed by whoever in the band would sign it. He was SO excited, I remember it well. It was early 1968, The band was in the studio working on Waiting For The Sun, the band's third album, the night they delivered the tv, so Manzarek wasn't home. I forget exactly the timetable, but within a few weeks, my friend received the album back, signed by Jim, and a signed Manzarek photo. (I'm still keeping the photo, because it's not worth a ton, and I always loved it...) So that's basically what I recall 40 years later. Again, I don't sell too many signed items, so when I do, I always sell them as-is, no refunds. If I wasn't there when it was signed, I can't say for sure it's real or not. Of course, I assumed it was all this time. And I have NO idea how to get autographs authenticated. If it doesn't come back as authentic, that's the risk the buyer takes. I never thought about it being real or not, because I "assumed" it was. Why wouldn't I?..... But that's the risk with signatures. So please know what you're buying and I only hope this thing is genuine like I thought it was since the 1970's...
