Description
Rare killer 60s Oz surf instrumental lp for the Dave Bridge Trio. Original mono pressing on HMV label (cat # OCLP 7608).
Super rare and collectable lp. This record just oozes with 60s surf cool...Cover features an amazing photo of John Fordham on an epic day at Narabeen! All but two tracks are named after well known Australian surf spots/areas.....Bondi, Gold Coast, Rainbow Bay and "Winkiepop!"
All tracks are originals....with the title track Surfin Downunder being really unique. Not your typical upbeat instrumental or chilled out/mellow track as most surf instrumentals are.....it's slow, dark and menacing. Great stuff ,
Would rate cover as (G). Showing it's age, but the awesome cover art still prevails! Some splitting on all seams. Some small tears and sticky tape repairs. Misc edge/corner/ring/shelf wear. Small name written on front and misc marks on back.
Vinyl is (G). Retains some original gloss. Has numerous light scratches/scuffs. The records has a slight warp....my turntable plays it ok at 2g stylus pressure but skips on first track at 1.5g.....please consider this when bidding! Plays at (G+) with light background noise and light pops/ticks.
Labels are both (VG+). Numerous light spindle marks but otherwise clean.
This is a hard to find record in any condition. Not a mint copy but an ok player to have until you're lucky enough to find another copy....if you do that is! Alternately, would make an awesome display piece....one of my alltime favourite surf lp covers!
Can pickup from Rye, Vic, or will happily post Australia wide at buyers expense. Thanks for looking, good luck!
