THE DAMNED NEW ROSE (1976) UK'S FIRST PUNK SINGLE!!

Description

This auction is for an initial pressing of the seven inch vinyl single 'New Rose' b/w 'Help!' by The Damned in it's original picture sleeve.

Issued on the Stiff record label my copy has the initial 'push-out' centre, and not the 'solid' centre found on later copies. The catalogue number is 'Buy 6' and the inscription in the run-out grooves reads "BUY 6 A-1U" on the A side and "BUY 6 B-1U" on the B side. The words "IS THIS A RECORD?" and "A BILBO BOPPER" also appear on the first side, with "DAMNED BEATLES!" and "BILBO - MASTER ROOM" on the second side.

The vinyl is still in terrific shape. I have owned the disc from new and haven't played it too much, listening mainly to the album. The only soft clicks I can hear on playback are in the final two or three seconds of the B-side 'Help!' (although the music is very loud!) and there are definitely no skips. I would describe it as 'Excellent -'.

The sleeve is also well preserved although there is some very slight scuffing around the extreme edges and a tiny split (just 1cm long) at the top centre of the front. Accordingly I'd grade this as 'Excellent -' also.
