THE CRYSTALITES – SPLASH DOWN / FINDERS KEEPERS – NU BEAT NB.036

Rare original 1969 reggae/beat 7-inch 45-rpm on the highly sought Nu Beat label, catalogue number NB.036, of Jamaican reggae studio group The Crystalites, produced by Derrick Harriott. Line-up: Paul Douglas, Barry Biggs, Wallace Wilson, Larry McDonald, Hux Brown, Gladstone Anderson, Les Davis, Winston Wright, Bongo Herman.

The disc has many surface marks and light scratches so we have listened VERY carefully. Overall on both sides the sound quality is great with no background noise or crackle. Side 1 has 4 ticks so faint we couldn’t decide if they really were ticks or part of the backing! Side 2 has 4 light but noticeable ticks – certainly nothing to detract from the listening pleasure. Definitely plays better than it looks. The side 1 label is very good; Side 2 label has red raised spots and owner’s name in ink (see photo). Supplied in plain card sleeve.
