THE COMPLETE SERGE CHALOFF SESSIONS – MOSAIC MQ5-147 – M-/M- 5 LP BOX SET – 16 PAGE BOOKLET – MONO
This Mosaic Box Set includes all the material that Serge Chaloff recorded on Dial, Savoy, Storyville, Futureama, Motif and Capitol Records. It begins with his first session on Dial on September 21, 1946, until his last session on Capitol on March 14, 1956. Some of the personnel is as follows: Red Rodney, Gait Preddy and Herb Pomeroy on trumpets, Earl Swope on trombone, Charlie Mariano and Boots Mussulli on alto, Al Cohn on tenor, Terry Gibbs on vibes, Ralph Burns, George Wallington, Barbara Carroll, Russ Freeman, Ray Santisi and Sonny Clark on piano, Artie Bernstein, Curley Russell, Oscar Pettiford, Frank Vaccaro, Jimmy Woode, Everett Evans and Leroy Vinnegar on bass, Don Lamond, Tiny Kahn, Denzil Best, Pete DeRosa, Buzzy Drootin, Jimmy Zitano and Philly Joe Jones on drums. A 16 page booklet is included, written by Vladimir Simosko and many photos. The number of this box set is 3223.
I have graded both the LPs and the box set as M- for the following reasons. The vinyl on all 5 LPs show no marks and show no sign of wear in or around the spindle holes. The vinyl retains its original luster. The LP box is in near mint condition with no real sign of wear. If you have any questions, please email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
