Description
I purchased this Clovers album at Randy’s Record Shop in Gallatin, TN in July of 1958 for $3.98. I had to go to Gallatin and regularly listened to WLAC in Nashville, so I knew a trip to Randy’s would be a must.
The condition of the record is “good -” according to the Rockin’ Records 2009 edition guide. A minor skip in ”Don’t You Know I Love You” takes it to the minus mark.
The jacket is in good condition except for the crease (which is .5 wide and 7.5” long) visible in the photo. To a lesser degree the same crease also appears along the left edge on the back cover. The right cover edge shows a grayish color. (1/8” wide along entire edge top to bottom). The other edges show no deterioration. The cover colors remain vibrant. While all the print on the back cover is very legible, the original white background color now appears a bit grayish from age and handling.
Side One –
Love, Love, Love
Lovey Dovey
Yes, It’s You
Ting-A-Ling
I Played The Fool
Hey, Miss Fanny
Don’t You Know I Love You (minor skip – a slight nudge will get you past it)
Side Two –
Middle Of The Night
Blue Velvet
Little Mama
Crawlin’
Here Goes A Fool
I Got My Eyes On You
Devil Or Angel
If you like early R&B, you will love the Clovers. If you are not familiar with them, here is your chance to go back to the early days of R&B when the vocals dominated and the instruments were secondary.
Rockin’ Records 2009 lists this 1957 LP’s value at $200-$300.
