THE CAPITOL RECORD Capitol Tower Souvenir 1956 PROMO Frank Sinatra history RARE Shipping Info Description RARE promo-only 45 with picture sleeve: THE CAPITOL RECORD - A SOUVENIR OF THE CAPITOL TOWER - 7" PROMO EP on Capitol (no catalog number is listed on the cover, spine or record labels); labels say "promotional copy/not for sale". No printed date, but circa 1956-1958. The matrix #'s are 45-PRO-254-D1/45-PRO-255-D1. This EP celebrates the early history of Capitol and features snippets/samples of a nice selection of their artists, including Frank Sinatra (with a portion of the first-ever recording at the then-new Capitol Tower Recording Studio, an orchestra conducted by Sinatra, as well as 'Love & Marriage', and the back cover features Frank conducting a recording session), the first-ever recording of Capitol (Ella Mae Morse singing 'Cow Cow Boogie"), Johnny Mercer's 'Strip Polka', Stan Kenton's band, Yma Sumac, Bozo The Clown, Bugs Bunny and friends, Dean Martin, Jackie Gleason and more. The narrator is George Fenneman, who is best known as Groucho Marx's sidekick/announcer on 'You Bet Your Life'. There are nearly 13 minutes on this EP. The question is, how many of these were produced, and how many actually survive in this condition today?
Condition: NM/NM- (the vinyl is glossy and looks unplayed, except for a touch of very minimal scuffing to outer edge - plays great and sounds NM; labels are a dirty-gold color; the sleeve has only one small edge wrinkle and a minimal scuff on the reverse).
