Description

Artist/Group(s): The Beatles.

Title: Let it be.

Record Label/Company: PARLOPHONE,there are other details, see description below, this may well be a rare Export or contract pressing,I'll give details I know, and welcome any questions.

Catalogue Number: PCSJ 7096.

Side 1 Matrix:YEX-774-1

Side 2 Matrix:YEX-773-1.

Description Of Item For Sale:

Condition: This is a 1970 LP,it comes in the proper sleeve, then that is inside a box which contains a large book which is stuffed with great photos.

I could not see this in my record collector price guide, the usual ones are listed at £175,but even with this in not as good condition as I would usually want to sell,I have a suspition this is very rare indeed,so I hope you serious collectors will see the listing, and know what you are after.

The labels are black, they have silver writing and 1 EMI boxed logo. Those are in the book as Export Re-issues,listed at £250.What puzzles me is that they have the catalogue number (P)-PCS 7096.

Underneath the EMI boxed logo on the labels is written:An E.M.I. Recording PRESSED FOR OR BY A REGISTERED USER.

On the sleeve, there is an IMPORTANT WARNING near the bottom alking about copyright, and that tapes must not be made of this record, but under that is written:RECORD PRESSED FOR OR BY A REGISTERED USER.

In the bottom right hand corner is the use emitex logo, and nixt to that in tiny print as a little logo, probably of significance: artone press.

The actual box has Printed and made in Great Britain by Garrod & Lofthouse Limited(Patents Pending).

At the top right of the box on the rear is a white sticker with PXSJ 1 in bold print. This is different from the PCSJ 7096 cat.no. on the labels.I am uncertain what I have here,I welcome any info, questions, and above all high bids!

Sleeve- Very Good.It is rather thin and as a result the laminate on the front has caused it to curl. There are no splits, the spine is clear and readable.Nice and clean,if it had not curled I would certainly call it Excellent.

Vinyl- Very Good ++.Both sides are nice and glossy.Side 1 has very little in the way of light surface marks.Side 2 has around 6 surface light marks,I think only one made by a stylus,it runs from the label accross 2 1/2 tracks but is not deep.

The record plays very good, there are some light crackles in certain places.I have not cleaned this record, but that may help if you did,I won't attempt it as I know there are prostional machines to do that,I don't want to devalue this record if it turns out to be very rare.

Labels- Excellent.

Innersleeve-,Very Good,it is white with an innerbag. Also I found in the box a pvc bag type sleeve,I don't know if this is an addition,it will be with the lot,but it has split about 4 " on one side.

Extra Items,e.g.Poster,Insert-BOX.Front and back are Excellent. On either end are flaps designed to tuck inside to close the package, sadly as they are around 3 inches long,it is hard to get them tucked in without creasing them, and this is exactly what has happened. They are well creased,I tried to get this detail in my photo.I may well take more photos if I get any interest in this box set, when I took the phoo earlier today,I had not looked this item up,and didn't think it merited too much attention, but I now think possibly it is a good thing to have.

BOOK:

Excellent,lovely clean pictures,This is a fascinating archive.

All Items are Graded As In The Record Collector 2006 Price Guide,in Brief these grades are as folows:

Mint-Unplayed,sealed or as good as an unplayed undamaged item,.

Excellent-Some signs the record has been played, very little lessening in sound quality.Cover/Packaging might have slight wear/creasing.

Very Good-Been Played many times,no major deterioration in sound, despite noticeable surface marks, occational light scratch.Normal wear & tear on the cover or extra items, without major defect is acceptable.

Good-Played so much,used so much,sounds bad,many problems such as splits,stains etc.

Fair-Just Playable-not nice.

On 23-Feb-07 at 06:57:39 GMT, seller added the following information:

Please note:

Inside the box I think there should be some sort of card packing designed to hold the box in place and keep the outer box rigid. This is missing.I had not mentioned it in my listing because I thought that as I had not given a rating or description of it's condition, you would know it is not included.

On 26-Feb-07 at 17:53:26 GMT, seller added the following information:

This Is Made For Export To South Africa.

Below is a helpfull question from an Ebayer who told me to look for a reference to South Africa,it and also said the
Parlophone labels are different.I have responded, here is an extract of my response:

On the rear of the sleeve, not the box,as part of the copyright warning is written:The Association of the Southern African Phonographic Industry,123 Pall Mall,London S.W.1,England.
Don't know how I missed that.
Also,The Parlophone logos have the £ sign, but vaguely speaking, the design around resembles a seahorse within the box logo.
