Description
THE BEATLES Yesterday and Today Misprint Rarer Than Butcher?
A misprint or really a "mis-stick" of Yesterday and Today. If you notice the infamous trunk slick indicates it as a stereo version. See the "NEW IMPROVED DIMENSIONAL STEREO" graphic at the top of the image/the "slick". This is the slick that people peel to get to, or to see, if they have a butcher cover. But on this version you can also see the "T2553" indicating a mono cover listed on the spine fold— a stereo indication is "ST-2553". Additionally the back cover has all the other troupes that indicate it is a mono version—"Available in Stereo" and the "T-2553" indicator.
Compare this to the Stereo back covers that have a lengthy "Full Dimensional Stereo" description printed, as well as the "Also Available in Mono"
So it appears when applying slicks to the covers, someone at the factory slapped a stereo slick onto a mono cover. I'm not a serious record collector or Beatles collector, but in my research, I haven't found another version like this. So I dont know how rare it is.
AS far as condition: Overall Id say G+/VG- The cover has generall wear and discoloration as well as some ring wear. But the spines are solid and the edges and corners have some wear. The vinyl has some static when played but doesnt effect the sound when the music comes in. No skips. Only superficial surface scratches. Inner sleeve is good and looks to be original.
The disc itself is Stereo, but obviously I have no idea if thats the original disc--the numbers match up for an original pressing, but because of the mono/stereo mix up Im not sure wha the disc was originally supposed to be.
I have a large opening price on this auction, because I have no idea what its value is. With that said I am open to offers.
