The Beatles
"Yesterday...and Today"
1966 2nd State 'Butcher' Cover
VG+ (cover)/VG to VG+ (record)
The front cover itself is very clean with no writing or tears--just a little bit of waviness/warping mostly along the right side/mouth edge. What makes this cover unique is the top 'trunk' cover was factory pasted onto the butcher slightly off center so that a 1/16" edge of the butcher is showing at the left side! In addition, the press that originally applied glue at the printing plant, missed the top left corner so you can easily peel it back to see a portion of the Capitol logo on the Butcher underneath! In this corner, there is a very tiny bit of paper stuck to the Butcher below from the underside of the top slick but no tears or damage to the Butcher underneath.
The title spine and both top and bottom spines are 100% intact which is a rarity for this LP. As you can see, there is some minor discoloration on the back cover but overall this is a very displayable original Pasteover Butcher with no tears down to the cardboard or major issues to detract from the cover like so many others that are offered for sale here. The LP is a matching East Coast variation (with sanserif numerals) in VG to VG+ condition with lots of shine and MINT labels with no spindle wear.
Butcher covers remain the most collectible Beatles LPs in existence and copies like this one are becoming increasingly rare. Don't miss your chance to own a really nice Butcher package with recall letter, LP and original sleeve!Shipping is $14 to anywhere in the US and includes careful packing (in an appropriate LP mailer with cardboard inserts for protection) and insurance. The LP also comes in a Japanese resealable sleeve.
