Description
Up for auction is a vinyl lp copy of THE BEATLES' classic album 'Yesterday And Today'.
Album was released in 1966 on Capitol Records in the US as ST 2553 in Stereo.
This is an original early 2nd State 'Butcher Cover'
2nd State covers of Yesterday and Today are referred to that as they have the unpeeled paste-over of the 2nd version/more common cover on top of the original.
Back Cover has RIAA # 5 on lower right-hand corner area of cover.
This is indicative of the Los Angeles, Ca. Pressing Plant. This copy was found in Texas, though its nearest plant
Matrix:
Side 1: ST-1-2553-A-13 - (and a small asterisk * type inscription)
Side 2: ST-2-2533-A-13 - / 2 /
Condition:
Vinyl is in weak VG/VG- (Very Good/Very Good minus) visual grade condition with a few feelable scratches visible.
I played the album and I would call it an overall VG listen. There are a fair amount of light to moderate clicks and ticks, but no skips or jumps.
This particular copy is obviously more about the album cover.
Album Cover shows some standard shelf wear and light ring wear present (moreso on back cover).
Ringo's v-neck is visible underneath the trunk cover paste-over slick.
You can also see a little bit of the original Butcher Cover towards the upper-right hand corner of border of cover (under the "File Under: The Beatles" and "ST-2553" wrap as a bit of the original cover border is seen poking underneath the cover slick from a little off-centered aspect of manufacturing.
Previous owner peeled just a tiny bit of the paste-over cover towards the lower right-hand opening edge of cover. That particular area also shows a bit of the original cover.
Spine is clean and legible!
Includes original Capitol Records factory sleeve in good condition.
