DESCRIPTION

The Beatles - “Yesterday And Today” Capitol Records ST-2553 (Stereo) from 1966. Hard to find 1966 Scranton Pressing of this Classic Rock album from The Beatles - John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. I am far from an expert in all the different variations of the Beatles catalog but, from what I can gather, this is a 1966 Scranton Pressing as indicated by the following features: 1966 black rainbow label with no "subsidiary" rim print pressed at the Scranton, PA plant. No Factory Designator Number on lower right corner on back of jacket next to the RIAA Logo - my understanding is that this means the Jacket was printed “in house” by Capitol. Side One on the Label is designated by “I” rather than “1". 
Matrix / Runout (Side A Runout Stamped): ST1-2553-A5 ? Matrix / Runout (Side B Runout Stamped): ST1-2553-B6 ? Matrix / Runout (Side A and B Runout Stamped): [IAM in triangle]
I an not certain if this is a “Second State” Butcher Cover or not, some things point to yes, some to no. Personally, I can’t see any of the telltale signs like Ringo’s V-Neck showing through so I think it is just a straight up "Trunk Cover" version. If you have any way to positively identify let me know before bidding. In any case, still an interesting variation and one which I have not been able to find a duplicate of online.

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in pretty decent shape. There is some basic ring and edge shelf wear. There is some fairly slight corner softening and a small crease in the lower left corner. The bottom seam is split about 3” at the opening edge. The spine is part split / worn in the middle. There is a name written on both the front and back. There are 4 small staple holes in the upper left corner. Still, really pretty solid and looks nice so I would rate it as VG. The Vinyl is in Clean, Glossy condition looking well played but in nice shape. There are light overall scuffs and some light hairlines but nothing serious and nothing that seems to affect play. When spot playing no problems were found beyond some light groove noise in a few spots and maybe a soft tic or two so I think a grade of VG is right. Original Capitol Inner Sleeve has some light wear and a part split on the bottom seam. The labels show some light wear around the spindle hole, mainly on Side 2, but are otherwise Near Mint.

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
