*Here for your consideration is THE INFAMOUS “BEATLES STEREO BUTCHER COVER”.
Recorded on CAPITOL RECORDS IN 1966 WITH THE “BUTCHER COVER” instead of
the later “TRUNK COVER” version which was pasted directly on top of the ORIGINAL COVER.
THE CONTROVERSIAL NATURE OF THE GRAPHIC, SHOCKING BRUTAL PORTRAYAL
of THE BEATLES CAUSED SUCH AN UPROAR OF CRITICS AND CONDEMNATION THAT
CAPITOL RECORDS RECALLED ALL COPIES OF THE MONO AND STEREO VERSIONS
SLICED OFF 1/16” inch at the mouth of the album, pulled out the record from the cover
then glued a new “TRUNK COVER” over the original cover, replaced the record and
RESHRINK-WRAPPED THE ENTIRE PACKAGE, AND SENT THEM BACK TO THE STORES.
Unbeknownst to the adoring fans, these remained in this condition in some cases for many
years, until the secret was discovered and many thousands were “steamed off” or
just ripped off sections unprofessionally to reveal THE BUTCHER” underneath. This particular one was PROFESSIONALLY PEELED BY GARY HEIN, WORLD RENOWNED BEATLES DEALER, COLLECTOR, AND AFICIONADO TO IT’S PRESENT BEAUTIFUL STATE.
