The Beatles - 'The Beatles'
This auction is for an fantastic condition original first Mono pressing of The Beatles infamous self-titled double LP album, known affectionately as the white album.
INCREDIBLY low number... numbered 0028143.
Twenty million copies of this album have been sold since its release in December 1968 with two million sold in the first week, so to find such a low number is a real rarity. Almost certainly picked up on the day of release.The top opening gatefold sleeve is in great condition and unlike most white albums the spine is still intact and the text is still legible. Vinyl is in absolutely magnificent (see below) with first press matrix numbers and incredibly low stampers. All labels feature 'Sold in UK...' and omit 'An EMI Recording' confirming these are early first pressings. Comes with original pictures in MINT condition, poster in MINT condition and black inners in MINT condition. So in summary a rare opportunity to own a stunning condition white album with really low numbered sleeve. A great gift, investment or collectable.

Matrix number (Stampers in brackets): Side 1 - XEX 709-1 (7-GRP), Side 2 - XEX 710-1 (3-GDG), Side 3 - XEX 711-1 (3-PP, Side 4 - XEX 712-1 (4-PA)
Sleeve: EX- (original Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold sleeve in great condition with some light discolouration and very very minor edgewear, spine is still clear and text completely legible)
Vinyl: EX (both discs play with magnificent mono sound and very quiet background noise between tracks - Side 1 has a couple of hairlines that in no way detract from the sound, Side 2 has one small mark that has no effect on the sound quality, Side 3 and Side 4 are near mint and have no noticeable hairlines)
Pictures: NM- (all four beatles pictures are present and in as new condition, and includes original flypaper photo spacer)
Poster: NM- (poster is really beautiful and looks as new as the day it was bought)
Inners: NM- (original black inners are in remarkably good condition probably because the vinyls have not been kept in them - I've never seen better and they are definitely unmistakably original)
Record Collector Grading System
- MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
- EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
- VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
- GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
- FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
- POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
- BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.

THESE ARE THE EARLIEST AND RAREST OF THE WHITE ALBUM LABELS AND IN THIS CONDITION ARE VERY VERY VERY HARD TO FIND (SEE PICTURE 7). THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY RARE OPPORTUNITY FOR ANY SERIOUS VINYL COLLECTOR.
