THE BEATLES
I am pleased to offer for sale this very nice example of,
‘ WITH THE BEATLES ‘ ORIGINAL UK MONO
( RARER DECCA CONTRACT PRESSING )
Note; Due to extremely high demand and pre – orders for ‘ With The Beatles ‘ their second Album, EMI / Parlophone sub contracted a small amount of overstock to be pressed by the DECCA Pressing Plants, this has resulted in these DECCA CONTACT Mono pressings Becoming very sought after by collectors and are becoming ever harder to find in anything Like decent collectable condition.
The DECCA contract pressing can be identified by the following criteria, Firstly the disc Labels show a large pressed outer ring towards the outer edge of the disc labels, there Is no Tax Code pressed at the center of either disc label, and there are NO Buckingham Stamper codes to either run off areas.
Catalogue No, PMC 1206
Matrix No,s ; Side 1, XEX 447 – 7N, Side 2. XEX 448 – 7N.
Mothers ; Side 1, 3, Side 2. 4.
Stamper Codes; NONE.
Both labels ‘ Recording First Published Etc …… ‘ Label Text. & ‘ The Parlophone Co Ltd Etc ……’ Label Rim Text
CONDITION;
Please Note; In my opinion the grading of vinyl records and sleeves is at best subjective So with this in mind I will always err on the side of caution with my Grading’s. Which are based on the ‘Record Collector‘ UK Grading’s There seems to be far too many records being offered for sale that are totally overgraded.
DISC; - LABELS , EXCELLENT -
Both Labels are in lovely condition, all the silver and yellow lettering is pristine as is the black label background , they both show just a very few feint wispy spindle trails and a small amount of wear / rubbing to the spindle hole. .
DISC; VISUAL, EXCELLENT
In normal daylight it shows both disc surfaces to be in ABSOLUTELY STUNNING CONDITION, They have retained their beautiful deep black gloss sheen. Again under my Double Halogen Lamp they show just a very few of the feintest wispy hairlines which are consistent with the removal of the disc from its lined storage sleeve And they are consistent with this disc being barely played.
DISC; AUDIO, EXCELLENT ++
During one very careful play of both sides of this superb disc the Audio was SIMPLY STUNNING. The Audio was deep, rich and punchy and during all tracks I could not Detect any background or surface interference whatsoever, NO, skips,jumps, or clicks even on the quieter track ‘ TILL THERE WAS YOU ‘ the Audio simply superb, a sheer pleasure to listen to. Even on the run in’s & outs and between tracks there I could detect no more than just a very occasional feint dust pop. The Audio on this disc is the best that I have ever heard and must be on of the very best available, This is how the Mono Album was meant to be heard. I am sure that it will not disappoint.
INNER; Graded as EXCELLENT -
This inner is the ORIGINAL Emitex Poly – Lined Inner with the rarer “ PATENTS APPLIED FOR “ text in the bottom left hand corner and Made in Great Britain text in the bottom right corner. There are NO, seam splits, writing, stickers or seam repairs, the die cut centre circles Show no rips ,tears or nicks of any kind . It shows just some inevitable light creasing
SLEEVE; Graded Overall As VERY GOOD + +
The outer sleeve is the original Garrod & Lofthouse front laminated tri - flipback Sleeve with an unlaminated back panel. The front still retains a very nice high gloss sheen, it shows a few laminate creases and small edge thumbnails. The top and bottom seams are free from any splitting or heavy wear, the spine is very clean and firm with all the writing crisp and clear. All four corners show just a very small amount of rubbing which is negligible. The Tri Flipbacks are in very nice condition and all the text is very clear, they show just a very few thumbnail creases. The back panel is free from any writing or stickers of any kind, It shows some very light age toning together with some light rubbing towards the open edge and two small nicks to the back open edge which do not encroach on the front open edge. There is also two very small areas of foxing on the back. Overall this is a very respectable example of this early sleeve.
In my opinion this is a very nice example of this hard to find rare variant and represents an excellent future investment for a collector.
