Description

Beatles White Album, Top loader, original complete, stereo, 1968 Apple double LP PCS 7067/7068

  • Clearly embossed with raised letters - The Beatles on front cover
  • Clear to read, 7 digit grey serial number, slight downwards angle towards the lower right corner – No. 0360926
  • Top loader with original 4 glossy colour portrait prints of the band, with the thin white print separator
  • Fold-out photos collage poster with the banned collage pornographic image and lipstick kiss – all excellent condition
  • Original black inner die-cut sleeves – both in one piece, although one has a couple of splits
  • Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold sleeve – original, good condition cover, a few signs of ageing, but no rips or tears
  • Overall, in very good condition

Unusual feature

  • Side 1 and Side 2 – 1st pressings – no EMI recording details on label
  • Side 3 and Side 4 – 2nd pressings – an EMI recording on label
  • Sides 1 and 3 – Dark Green apple labels with the correct ‘sold in the UK, subject to resale price conditions’ text
  • Sides 2 and 4 – split open apple with the correct ‘sold in the UK, subject to resale price conditions’ text

It has been known, although quite rare, for one side to have the 1st label and the other side a 2nd label. Some original versions carry the EMI recording text, and some don’t.

Side 1 – Stereo PCS 7067 (Yex 709) copyright symbol P 1968.

Side 2 - Stereo PCS 7067 (Yex 710) copyright symbol P 1968.

Side 3 - Stereo PCS 7068 (Yex 711) copyright symbol P 1968.

Side 3 - Stereo PCS 7068 (Yex 712) copyright symbol P 1968.

Other features

UK version

  • Revolution 1 Northern Songs
  • Revolution 9 Northern Songs
  • OB-LA-DI, OB-LA-DA
  • Spine lettering – Stereo PCS 7067-8; Mono PCM 7-67-8
  • The rear of the sleeve does have the Stereo logo, fully readable

Vinyl visual condition – looks good, a few very light surface marks. But no system available to play these, so sorry, cannot offer any guarantees on the sound quality.

These are rare for collectors, the 180g Audiophile re-mastered versions would be the better bet for everyday playing

Background

  • The album was released on November 22, 1968
  • This is one of the original pressings. Initial pressings came in a top loading sleeve with black inners, which were removed around 1969/1970 when the album had a side opening sleeve with white inners

I may add a buy it now price if anyone wants to make a reasonable offer.

Thanks for looking and good luck.
