Description

HEAR THE BEATLES AS THEY WERE MEANT TO BE...With its most famous and most recognizable icon-sticker on a Beatles record: "pressung WEISS" you know you are getting one of the best mediums in Beatles music!!!... Up for bid is  THE BEATLES Double Album Catalog #1C 172-04 173/74 or otherwise known simply as The White Album. Made in Germany with the rare white (weiss) vinyls, and i mean really white as in milk, really gorgeous! These LPs were pressed using the legendary audiophile process DIRECT METAL MASTERING, better known as DMM, using original Master Tapes in the process, (if Toshiba only had used original Master Tape sources for their 1983 DMM TOJP-60000s series, instead of a Digital Mastering from a Digitally Re-Mastered source, the albums might have met a greater success. That's where the failure came!)

Conservatively i would grade the vinyls near mint (NM); no visible hairline scratch, no visible spindle marks (with the exception of Side 4 which i will explain a bit later). Vinyls were never played at all; (yet i carelessly slid Side 4 label on the turntable spindle to play Birthday on Side 3, as it was my mother's birthday at that time, but withdrew the vinyl without even playing it). They come with the original poly lined sleeves.  The jacket is a gatefold. Graded Excellent (EX) because of some minor scuffs/bends here and there. Surface are strong solid; jacket openings or mouth is in excellent condition. The BEATLES is embossed on the front and it has the No. 194115. The album comes with the individual 8 x 11 portraits of J, P, G & R plus a foldout poster of, who else, but The Beatles! All are also in excellent condition.. Feel free to ask any questions!

NOTES ABOUT DMM:  With DIRECT METAL MASTERING, the groove is cut directly in copper metal. High frequency loss, distortion and pre-echo associated with conventional lacquer mastering are eliminated and transient response is greatly improved. DMM record pressing sound brighter, cleaner, more detailed, with 15% more playing time than with lacquer technology. Stampers are plated directly from the DMM Copper Master, eliminating two of the three plating steps required for lacquers. In short, DMM yields better detail resolution and lower  noise  (for vinyl, DMM sounds closer to the MASTER TAPE than any other system of cutting).
