SEALED ~ MEET THE BEATLES ~ LATE 60s-MID 70s PRESSING ~ PASTE-OVER FRONT~ NO UPC
This SEALED copy of THE BEATLES VI- Capitol ST 2358 would either have a lime green or an Apple label but without opening it, we can't be 100% sure. This album was purchased in a large collection about 35 years ago. From my research in a few Bruce Spitzer & Perry Cox books, my personal belief is the record label on this pressing would most likely be the Capitol lime green.
This beautiful THE BEATLES VI LP is in perfect condition with 4 nice sharp corners. A prime addition for any collection.
The catalog number Capitol ST2358 is still the original ID. Once Capitol added UPC barcodes to Beatles albums in the late 1970's, all catalog numbers were changed.
As you can easily see on this copy just like on all the original covers, the edges of the rear artwork are visible below the outside edges of the front album cover artwork.
In the mid 1970's Capitol Records started to print the album cover artwork directly onto the thick white board-stock which the covers were then made from starting around 1976-1978 and this caries by album. This process of printing directly to the paper-board stock eliminated having to glue a separate piece of artwork on to the front cover and greatly simplifying the album cover process. Prior to that time, like on this record, Capitol used an assembly process to make their covers which required a pre-printed & die-cut piece of the front cover artwork to be glued onto the front side of the grey board stock, the front cover artwork also covered the edges of the rear art work which were folded over to the LP front- creating those very fragile early seams. The front art was glued over the edges of the rear artwork which folded over to the frontside so they couldn't be easily seen.
