Six months had elapsed since the release of Beatles '65 in America, and the powers that were at Capitol Records recognized that some new product was needed, especially as the group was about to tour the United States. The result was Beatles VI, using the remaining tracks off of the British-released Beatles for Sale album (going all the way back to the fall of the previous year), among them that album's highlight, a cover of Buddy Holly's "Words of Love," and four new songs, two of them from the second side of the soon-to-be-released U.K. Help! album. The result was as much of a mish-mash as any album of Beatles songs ever assembled by Capitol Records, although -- thanks to the quality of the performances and the songs -- it was still eminently high-quality material, song-for-song, and outclassed virtually all of the competition. And as long as the group's singles held up in quality, albums like this would continue to scale the top of the charts with ease.

As the title suggests, this is the sixth Beatles album for Capitol records , and - like all American versions of Beatles albums - this one, too, is different from the British counterpart in name, number of the tracks, mixing and overall packaging. This may be your final chance to grab a piece of history in a NEAR MINT condition.

·       THE RECORD

 (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(d)          Stereo  pressing of this title is much rarer than its mono  counterpart. We estimate that mono copies of this album outnumber stereo copies  by a ratio of at least 3:1.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                               THE COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has a partially split bottom seam (less than 1 inch / 2.5 centimeters); This split seam was delicately taped by the previous owner with a SMALL piece of transparent scotch tape

-        Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 1  (front side) and 2 (back side).

-        Cover has two corners slightly worn / frayed / bent (just a beginning of the split seam)

-        Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-        Minor shelf wear noted on the bottom seam and the opening side (nothing significant)

-        Tiny greasy stain noted on the back panel (less than ¼ square inch in size)
